Since its foundation in 2014, the International Nuremberg Principles Academy has been committed to the promotion and enforcement of international criminal law and international law. Located in the historic Nuremberg Palace of Justice, the site of the Nuremberg Trials, the Academy upholds the legacy of the Nuremberg Principles.

This globally committed institution strengthens the international discourse, research and networking of actors in the field of international law in order to contribute to the global implementation of international criminal law with the aim of sustainable peace through justice.

In a public tender, we won the contract to rethink the corporate design with an international focus for this important institution, while carefully guiding its visual identity into the future.

Our central design approach: The academy as a space for knowledge, dialog and law

Our design idea is based on a central concept: the academy as a space that combines three essential dimensions:

  • Space of knowledge and research (academy)
  • Space for dialog and mediation (Forum)
  • Room dedicated to justice (courtroom)

Logo and typography

When revising the logo, we focused on a more precise structure that straightens the name "International Nuremberg Principles Academy" vertically to the word mark while maintaining the precision of the figurative mark.

The adapted typography, a combination of the fonts "Barlow" and "DM Mono", reinforces the academic character of the academy and stands out from conventional academic typography.

Color concept: Blue and red as a symbol of seriousness and presence

The color scheme plays a central role in the new design. The "red line" stands as a symbolic boundary that must not be crossed. Blue and red create an exciting contrast that emphasizes the balance between presence and trustworthiness.

Visual language: The room as a visual concept

The Academy's visual world is therefore also consistently focused on the perception of spaces, as work for a just world is carried out every day in this historic location. Room 600 is one of the central locations.

The historic location is omnipresent. The famous "Hall 600" is one of the central locations where work was carried out until recently.

Comprehensive implementation of the corporate design

We implemented the new visual identity across all communication channels:

Print & Digital

  • Design of the 40-page anniversary publication as a flagship project
  • Development of print materials for image and documentation purposes
  • Concept and screen designs for the website relaunch
  • Creation of social media visuals

Office & Presentation

  • Word templates for daily communication
  • PowerPoint templates for professional presentations
  • Templates for marketing materials
  • Office equipment
  • Templates for mobile displays, roll-ups and banners

Corporate Design Manual

A comprehensive style guide documents all design elements and their application. We paid particular attention to the practical implementation in Office applications to ensure consistent communication in everyday life.

A uniform and sustainable image

The Academy's corporate design combines institutional integrity with a contemporary visual language and ensures that the Academy is positioned as a modern and relevant player in international criminal law. The design implementation gives the Academy an image that:

  • Positioning the institution as a modern, relevant player
  • Its role as a place of knowledge and dialogue visualized
  • A clear but unobtrusive visual language speaks
  • Practical applicability guaranteed in all media

With its new visual identity, the International Nuremberg Principles Academy presents itself as a contemporary but timeless institution - ready for the challenges of the future.
