22,587 reports, one mother ship

With 16 years of digital history, baunetz.de was the oldest website we had created that was still active. A digital veteran and the mother of many BauNetz projects that we have accompanied over the years. January 2026: time for a relaunch!

When we brought all BauNetz portals under one digital brand umbrella in 2025 with the new domain strategy and a new logo , it was clear that there also had to be a new homepage for baunetz.de with its legendary news reports.

The challenge

For years, BauNetz Meldungen has been THE news portal for architects. Five top news stories a day. Updated at 3:30 p.m. sharp. It worked. But the site was no longer able to meet growing demands. Because behind the daily news stories lies something much bigger: a huge pool of knowledge. Almost 30 years of architecture news. A treasure waiting to be unearthed.

Our role

Design and conceptual consulting, working closely with the BauNetz team. Together, we developed a core idea that combines two things: current events and archives.

The solution: the timeline

BauNetz Meldungen is now more than just a news portal. It is also a research tool. The visual centerpiece: a central timeline that connects the present with the past.

An interface that invites you to scroll. Back to 1996, if you want. Through decades of German and international architectural history. Every entry in its place. Chronological. Searchable.

More than just a relaunch

The result is more than just a new home page. It is a new gateway to a vast archive. New filter functions and sophisticated keyword indexing bring all content together in a tailored way. What used to be a laborious search is now a targeted find.

The agenda shows at a glance what is happening in German-speaking countries—exhibitions, conferences, talks. And so-called topic bridges link content from across the entire BauNetz cosmos. They reveal connections that were previously hidden.

Step by step

Not all of the features and enhancements we have conceived are online yet; they are being rolled out gradually.

On January 26, 2026, there were 22,587 reports, 11,426 projects, 686 BauNetz WOCHEN, 57 agenda entries, and 16 topic areas. And today there are already a few more.

But regardless of the time, BauNetz (News) proves once again with this relaunch why it is number one in the German-speaking world of architecture media and what lies behind this— and all other BauNetz domains (each conceived and designed by us): a hell of a lot.

"Faster, clearer, more intuitive,"as BauNetz itself puts it. Here's to the next 16 years of successful collaboration.
