New digital home

In the Berlin Global Village (BGV), the Berlin One World Center, around 50 development policy and migrant-diasporic associations and initiatives work on various issues of global justice, sustainability and diversity. The physical home is in Berlin-Neukölln (within walking distance of us) in the converted former Kindl brewery and the associated new building. Just as the various tenants share the infrastructure in the building, the website is a place for the BGV itself and for the other initiatives in the building to introduce themselves and advertise events. The website is also used to organize room bookings for external parties.

The digital home needed a makeover and this is where we came in to develop a new web design that fits the BGV and the communicative requirements of the website. The design is based on the existing logo and the color scheme it provides and develops it further.

A special feature was the integration of a second website with its own design in the same technical framework. It should be possible to access the art competition "Dekoloniales Denkzeichen" permanently via the BGV menu and back; the meta-navigation pages apply to both websites. Here we came up with a menu that looks a bit like a toggle switch and offers good orientation despite the quick change. In addition to the BGV team, we were in close contact with the external developer implementing the site to ensure that the concept, design and implementation options fit together well and in a streamlined process. Our task was also to provide advice and organizational support on the concept and overall process.
